Stop Motion Animations + Miniature & Macro Photography Starring Plum, The Doll Family, & The Nature Fairies (with Human Orchid)

Our Story

How We Began

“There is so much to say… where shall we begin?” I wondered. “At the very beginning,” said Plum. So here we are.

For years, I dreamed of animating. The joy of seeing characters effortlessly move across a screen captivated me from a young age. Watching timeless animations – from Old Bear to Wind in the Willows – made me want to learn how animation was done. 3D animation was cool, but stop motion put the characters in a more realistic world. Something I could relate to more than digital productions and worlds. Stop motion existed its own unique dimension.

I wanted to better understand it by producing my own short films. It’s taken years to get around to it, mostly because of school and the ever-present concept known as “life”, but at last it’s happened. And it couldn’t have been possible without the fairies, and dolls.

The real push to get this going began in March 2020, when everyone had to stay at home. The fairies and dolls started asking me, “Now that you’re indoors more, why don’t you animate? We’ve been waiting for this for years!”

So that’s what I’ve done. And here we are.

As the fairies come and go, adopted by different people and families all over the world, the dolls and I work on our latest animations. We’re constantly seeking new forms of inspiration.

Our animation adventures are never boring. Between my fairy friend Mimi and her escapades, and the dolls helping me work on projects indoors and outdoors, we keep each other very busy.

Why Stop Motion Animation

It opens the door to a new world

Stop motion animation bridges the gap between live-action footage (in the human sphere) and 3D animation (in the digital sphere).

Our Standards... Projects We Make, And Ones We Don't

At Plum Village Productions, our goal is to produce high-quality animations for viewers of all ages. That is why we aim to keep our content appropriate for younger viewers, and do not make videos beyond a PG rating. From time to time, some of our videos may handle more complex and mature issues, such as grief and healing. But we are always mindful of our audience, and do our utmost to respect the importance of family values.
