Stop Motion Animations + Miniature & Macro Photography Starring Plum, The Doll Family, & The Nature Fairies (with Human Orchid)

The Nature Fairies always tell me, “A little crochet goes a long way.” Sort of like life: we do and undo (and redo) things, and we learn along the way. The process is just as important as the end result.

In crochet, the term ‘frogging’ refers to undoing something (ripping out the stitches) and trying again. It can be frustrating, but we persevere. That’s what matters most. I’ve been working on a nightgown for one of my characters/puppets, and crocheted a little sample of the stitches I’d use. It turned out to be perfect, so I started work on the miniature project. No longer needing the sample, I thought it would be fun to animate the process of crocheting and frogging something.

Fun fact: I did this as an little experiment, to see how smooth I could animate without onion-skinning. Just goes to show how crucial onion-skinning is to the animation process. 🙂
